Quality Lab Manager

We are looking for a Quality Lab Manager to add to our growing team.  This is a full-time position reports directly to the President.

The Quality Lab Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the lab as well as assisting other department heads with any quality related issues. Applicants must be comfortable communicating with all departments to ensure all issues are being addressed and changes are being implemented appropriately.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cell counts of yeast and fermenting wort
  • Perform daily testing on fermenting and finished beer
  • Perform DO testing on finished beer and all packaged beers
  • Perform sterile plating and testing of wort, beer, and yeast samples
  • Harvesting, moving, and pitching yeast
  • Maintain overall yeast health of several in-house strains
  • Perform regular calibration and/or cleaning of lab equipment and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
  • Organize, track and analyze all results and data
  • Prepare stock solutions and media plates
  • Oversee QC of canning and bottling runs
  • Continue to grow QA/QC program and lab protocols as the company continues to grow
  • Write, update, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the lab
  • Develop and manage sensory panel
  • Assist with yeast propagation

The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field
  • At least 2 year’s work experience in a QC/QA lab for a production brewery
  • Strong work ethic, self-starting attitude and a strong attention to detail
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, growing company
  • Ability to work individually, as well as part of a team

Brand Manager

The Brand Manager is responsible for wholesale draft (on-premise) and retail packaged sales (off-premise) in his or her assigned territory within New Jersey. This includes the acquisition of new accounts and the maintenance of existing accounts through relationship building with a focus on increasing draft presence and premium shelf space to drive sales. In addition, this person will be soliciting orders, assigning them to the correct distribution geography and entering them into the system for processing and delivery.

This is not an entry level position.  If you have no experience working for a craft brewery, as a brewery sales representative or at a wholesaler your application will not be considered.

Critical Responsibilities Include:

  • Daily correspondence with relevant customers to update them on availability and solicit orders
  • Accurate order entry into the system by the order deadline
  • Periodic in-person visits to existing customers to cultivate relationships, including determining the correct frequency with which to do so
  • Fielding new account inquires that come in unsolicited
  • Proactive scouting of appropriate prospective new accounts in assigned territories
  • Identify opportunities to grow volume within existing accounts (i.e., additional lines for Kane)
  • Managing inventory, in coordination with Director of Sales, and allocating kegs where necessary
  • Working with Director of Sales to monitor growth among specific customers and territory wide
  • Attending and representing Kane Brewing at festivals and events
  • Developing short and long term Territory Action Plans (from weekly routing to quarterly/yearly progress tracking
  • Meet with and report to Director of Sales and President weekly to discuss recent activity and next week’s Action Plan
  • Work with Accounting Department to manage account receivable and timely payment from customers
  • Manage off premise accounts to maintain placements and proper product rotation to maintain freshness

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Sales role is required
  • Brand Representative or Distributer Sales Representative experience ideal

Content Marketing Manager

We are looking for a Content Marketing Manager to add to our growing team.  This full-time position will work closely with our Graphic Designer and reports directly to the VP of Marketing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating websites for different brand extensions and businesses within the Kane portfolio
  • Manage and update content daily across all websites
  • Analyze and optimize key metrics across all websites including clicks, conversion and retention
  • Assist in creating and recording content for social media
  • Interact daily with our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts
  • Write and deploy monthly e-mail newsletter
  • Maintain and write content for our blog
  • Manage our Eventbrite releases and company store
  • Keep brand consistency top of mind, understand the competitive landscape and be able to identify areas of opportunity
  • Assist the VP of Marketing with strategic marketing plans

Qualified candidates will have the following skills:

  • Ability to photograph still images and use Adobe Photo Shop

Requirements:

  • BS or BA required, concentration in Marketing, Communications or related Digital Media field

EXPERIENCED CELLAR PERSON

We are looking to add a full-time cellar-person to add to our team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Fermentation monitoring
  • CIP/SIP of all brewery vessels
  • Wort and beer transfer
  • Yeast harvest, pitching and health management
  • Manual cleaning of brewery equipment and parts
  • Exterior and interior keg cleaning
  • Assist with packaging; including canning and bottling
  • Operating the centrifuge
  • Manual keg filling
  • Strict adherence to sanitary and record-keeping standards
  • Basic facilities maintenance
  • Basic brewery equipment maintenance
  • Assist brewers with wort-creation and brew house operation

Qualified candidates will have the following skills:

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Close attention to details
  • Willingness to assist with tasks outside key responsibilities
  • Communicate efficiently with team and customers
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment

Must be able to:

  • Lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs occasionally
  • Stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Operate a forklift and complex machinery
  • Work in a non-temperature controlled environment, handling of hazardous materials

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical degree in related filed is required
  • At least six months previous experience working in a brewery with an understanding of the physical requirements of this type of position

TASTING ROOM SPECIALIST

Kane Brewing Company is currently interviewing individuals for part-time positions with our retail operations.  The position would require approximately 20-25 hours of work over 3-4 days a week—mostly weekends. IMPORTANT: If you already have a full or part time position with a wholesale distributor of alcohol or a bar/restaurant and are looking for extra hours, please do not apply.  We cannot hire across tiers of the three tier alcohol distribution system.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure enjoyable experience to all customers
  • Uphold high standards of service quality and consistency
  • Maintain a clean and well stocked environment
  • Assist customers during the purchase of beer and/or merchandise.
  • Possess full knowledge of our products and offerings to correctly answer customer questions
  • Serve as tour guide for our production facility
  • Trouble shot draft system

Must be able to:

  • Lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs with assistance of hand truck
  • Stand for 5-8 hours per day
  • Work in a non-temperature controlled environment

Other requirements:

  • 21 years of age
  • Prior experience working in craft focused bar or restaurant
  • Knowledge and/or passion for craft beer and brewing or willingness to be trained and learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail
