Barrel Program Cellar Person

We are looking for a Barrel Program Cellar Person to add to our growing team.  This person will work directly with both our clean barrel-aging program and with our mixed fermentation and spontaneous beer program.  This position will also assist with pilot and small batch brewing.  This is a full-time position and reports directly to the manager of these programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain clean working environments in both clean and sour barrel warehouses including mopping and pressure washing
  • Perform monthly barrel inventories, bung checks and creation of barrel tags for new batches
  • Record keeping for barrel racking, adjuncting and blending
  • Barrel movement and stacking via forklift with barrels ranging from 53 to 158+ gallons
  • Perform gravity (densitometer) & pH readings, titratable acidity measurements for sour barrels
  • Data collection to track “readiness” of individual barrels or batches and availability for blending
  • Perform small scale pilots of new adjuncts to develop new recipes for scaled up production batches
  • Recipe development and research ranging from barrel lagered beers to stouts and mixed & spontaneous fermentation
  • Maintain separation of clean brewery and mixed fermentation warehouse
  • Follow all SOPs and Checklists to ensure safety and produce best product possible
  • Performance of CIP/Sani/Purge on tanks, coolship, packaging equipment and barrel racking lines
  • Barrel cleaning and sulfuring with pressure washer assembly
  • Assist in brewing and preparation for coolship and mixed fermentation batches
  • Processing of fruit, spices and hops
  • Bottling via 6 head gravity filler including manual corking and capping
  • Barrel maintenance & inspection – including swelling and leak repair
  • Barrel purging, filling and racking

Delivery Driver

We are looking for a Delivery Driver to add to our growing team.

The Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of draft and packaged beer to our customers. In addition to this critical role, drivers serve as a front line to our customers, often seeing them in person more frequently than their sales representative.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Loading the truck each morning according to the invoices assigned to your route, and double checking for accuracy to ensure correct delivery and maximize efficiency
  • Safe and timely delivery to customers within, to the extent possible, their preferred delivery times
  • Delivery directly into cold storage with the signature of an authorized bar/restaurant employee for proof of delivery, and accurate calculation of final invoice amount based on keg credits and tap handle deposits
  • Retrieval of all empty kegs including a general awareness of keg deficits (i.e. consistently delivering more kegs than there are empties to be returned) or keg hoarding (holding onto or cellaring “vintage” kegs)
  • Continued communication with supervisor to make aware of any impending or ongoing issues with customers.
  • Properly securing both empty and full kegs in the truck to prevent damage to interior of box
  • Operating the vehicle in a safe manner at all times
  • Responsible for proper service, maintenance, and repair of trucks.
  • Bi-weekly exterior washing and interior cleaning for all trucks including front cab and box.
  • Accurate and up to date mileage log as well as gas and other expenditures.

Quality Lab Manager

We are looking for a Quality Lab Manager to add to our growing team.  This is a full-time position reports directly to the President.

The Quality Lab Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the lab as well as assisting other department heads with any quality related issues. Applicants must be comfortable communicating with all departments to ensure all issues are being addressed and changes are being implemented appropriately.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cell counts of yeast and fermenting wort
  • Perform daily testing on fermenting and finished beer
  • Perform DO testing on finished beer and all packaged beers
  • Perform sterile plating and testing of wort, beer, and yeast samples
  • Harvesting, moving, and pitching yeast
  • Maintain overall yeast health of several in-house strains
  • Perform regular calibration and/or cleaning of lab equipment and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
  • Organize, track and analyze all results and data
  • Prepare stock solutions and media plates
  • Oversee QC of canning and bottling runs
  • Continue to grow QA/QC program and lab protocols as the company continues to grow
  • Write, update, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the lab
  • Develop and manage sensory panel
  • Assist with yeast propagation

The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field
  • At least 2 year’s work experience in a QC/QA lab for a production brewery

Facilities Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to add to our growing team.  This is a full-time position reports directly to the Vice-President of Operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and maintenance of brewery equipment and utility systems
  • Preventative maintenance of brewery equipment
  • Assisting with the installation of new equipment
  • Repair of inoperable or malfunctioning equipment while minimizing production down time
  • Maintaining an inventory of hardware and/or spare parts critical to production and packaging to minimize down time and schedule interruptions
  • Observe and practice all Brewery Safety Procedures
  • Accurately document, record, and update daily logs as they relate to maintenance and repair projects
  • Support production staff with their mechanical, equipment, and hardware needs
  • Work safely; maintain good sanitation and good manufacturing practices
  • Other miscellaneous projects around the facility

Qualified candidates will have the following skills:

  • Experience in equipment installation/maintenance, construction, or a mechanical trade, including but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, or electrical
  • Mechanical competency and high-level understanding of tools, machines and equipment, and the safe operation and maintenance of them
  • Competency in general carpentry and construction
  • Basic understanding of plumbing principles
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles
  • Flexibility to carry out repair and maintenance tasks around the production schedule when necessary
  • Confidence and comfortability working on ladders, scissor lifts, or on equipment up to 25-30 feet off the ground (with proper PPE)
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment

  • Familiarity with Brewery Utility Systems such as:
    • Boilers
    • Glycol chillers and refrigeration

    • Electric Motors, Control panels, PLCs and VFDs

  • Understanding of process and packaging machinery including but not limited to:

Must be able to:

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and applicable technical knowledge required.
  • Experience in the installation and repair of mechanical equipment preferred.
  • Excellent mechanical troubleshooting ability

EXPERIENCED CELLAR PERSON

We are looking to add a full-time cellar-person to add to our team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Fermentation monitoring
  • CIP/SIP of all brewery vessels

  • Manual cleaning of brewery equipment and parts
  • Exterior and interior keg cleaning

TASTING ROOM SPECIALIST

Kane Brewing Company is currently interviewing individuals for part-time positions with our retail operations.  The position would require approximately 20-25 hours of work over 3-4 days a week—mostly weekends. IMPORTANT: If you already have a full or part time position with a wholesale distributor of alcohol or a bar/restaurant and are looking for extra hours, please do not apply.  We cannot hire across tiers of the three tier alcohol distribution system.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure enjoyable experience to all customers
